Defending champions Express endured a frustrating afternoon at the Mutesa stadium against a resurgent Solito Bright stars who mounted a serious contest On the back of a glorious 1-0 victory over Villa.
The Mwelerwe based side started the game on the front foot forcing the hosts custodian Joel Mutakubwa into early saves particularly from skipper Senkatuka before the hosts stamped their authority on the game with Bright stars goal keeper pulling off spectacular saves that earned him the man of the match gong.
The first stanza of the game saw both sides settle for a dull stalemate while in the second stanza, Express returned in buoyant mood and went on the front foot for nearly 20mins forcing several corners with th pressure paying off in the 63rd minute when George Senkaaba pounced on kamikaze defending to net home his side’s opener.
However, a double substitution by the visitors saw David Umony replace the ineffective Augustus Kacancu while Kaka replaced Kimera.
Late in the 86th minute Bright stars’s marauding pressure paid off after Enock Walusimbi and Isa Lumu were caught napping by a lively David Umony who went around a on rushing Mutakubwa to prod home a deserved leveller sending the away section in raptures.
The draw meant the hosts missed the chance to close the gap on table leaders KCCA and Vipers respectively.
