Leave Acholi people alone, Oulanyah fumes at Bobi Wine.
The appearance of Bobi Wine at the funeral of former deputy Paramount Chief of Acholi William George Lugai angered Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah.
Thousands of mourners on Friday gathered to bid farewell to the fallen Acholi Chief in Pajule Town Council, Pader District and among them was the pop star turned politician, Bobi Wine.
Bobi Wine accompanied by his spokesman Joel Ssenyonyi and the Kilak South Member of Parliament Gilbert Olanya, also the People Power Mobilizer in the Acholi Sub-region, emerged amid the speech by Mr Oulanyah.
Their appearance excited mourners who started loudly cheering the People Power stalwarts, thus interrupting Mr Oulanyah’s speech for at least three minutes. The seemingly furious Oulanyah asked why people were cheering someone who “gate crashed” the funeral.
In his remarks aimed at the legislator, Oulanyah said Acholi people are tired of fights and that whoever wants to start a fight should start it from their home region.
“Leave us alone… if you want to start violence, start it from your side. Acholi are tired, we are tired of wars. Please take the fight elsewhere,” Mr Oulanyah said.
