Jackson Mayanja’s reign as Hippos head coach began with a 2-0 win over Tanzania in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers for the CECAFA Zone.

In the game played at Al Hilal Stadium in Sudan on Saturday, the Hippos scored their goals in the first half courtesy of Titus Ssematimba and Rogers Mugisha.
Ssematimba and Mugisha scored in the 31st and 34th minute respectively as the Hippos kicked off their title defence with victory.
Mayanja’s coached team leads proceedings in Group B with three points while Tanzania and Ethiopia are pointless – the latter is yet to play.
The Hippos will return to action on Saturday, November 5th for their second game against Ethiopia and victory will see them reach the semifinals of the CECAFA competition.
