Mbarara RDC Hands over Office to take on President’s Assignment

Mbarara Resident Commissioner Maj. Martha Asiimwe has officially handed over her office today to take on the new presidential assignment.

The Presidential reshuffles have been pending till today when the Maj. Martha Asiimwe handed over her office to Col. Mwesigye.

Among the notable changes, long serving Mbarara RDC Maj. Martha Asiimwe was replaced by Maj. James Mwesigye who has been the RDC of Kasese.

Asiimwe was appointed on the new Secretariat of RDCs along with former UNATU boss James Tweheyo and Sr. Mary Grace Akiror in June 2018.


She confirmed that she was promoted to the RDC’s secretariat.

“I have earned a promotion from the commander in chief and I am going to work with them under the RDCs’ secretariat of which we are discussing with H.E so I will be found around there”

“I have been on leave but for purposes of letting my comrades to access office I had to come and hand over officially because you never know I have an appointment with the president tomorrow” said Martha

During the handover ceremony people thanked Asiimwe for being such hardworking lady in the district.
She also thanked people of Mbarara for being cooperative to her for the long time she has been serving Mbarara since 2015.

Dropped veteran journalist Tiguragara Matojo also attended the function and asked his comrade cadres to lobby him another assignment.

Tuguragara was the RDC of Lyantonde since 2014 before being replaced by Catherine Kamwiine from Kiruhura district.

Incoming RDC, Lt. Col. James Mwesigye said he will sustain the activities which Asiimwe had worked on.

“I will carry on what Martha has been doing I may not fit in the shoes she is a very strong lady but I am also not a simple man; I am coming in to energize”

“The change is just the name and the sex but for others I will do whatever she has been doing” said Mwesigye
He however pointed that he will not tolerate any insecurity in the district warning senior police officers to tighten their belts.

“Security will be in our priorities security team you have got an array now me I will not command from outside no I will command in the frontline; we can fail in other things but with security no” said Mwesigye
He appealed all NRM cadres to fight for the party in the district.

“We must defend NRM here me I don’t hide my identity I am an NRM cadre I behave like a civil servant I serve everybody equally but I have where I belong” said Mwesigye
“We must befriend the opposition when we fail to befriend them we defeat them”

Lt. Col James Mwesigye served as an RDC of Kabale district, Amuru, Kasese and Mbarara now.
