Outgoing Mbarara City MP Tusiime Michael has challenged the NRM Party to wake up and do some house cleaning for the good of the party. “We have work to do especially in the field of conducting credible elections,” Tusiime notes. His warning to the party stems from the recently conducted NRM primaries across the country that were marred by irregularities and violence.
Tusiime lost the Mbarara City North NRM Primaries to Dr. Robert Mwesigwa Rukari and unlike many other politicians, he has announced his intention to pursue other activities rather than contest an independent in the coming general elections.
“I am certain that I have left a foot mark of excellency and the performance bar has been adjusted upwards. I wish my successor well,” Tusiime says adding that “I concede with humility the glaring irregularities during the democratic assembly notwithstanding.”
Among the many things he has accomplished, the legislator says that he is particularly glad that he upheld principles of honesty and integrity that are on a diminishing trend in Uganda.
